X Profile O Rings

X-ring seal, also commonly known as star ring, is an elastic seal with a cross-sectional shape of "X". Similar in structure to O-rings but with better sealing performance, it can be widely adapted to hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and various industrial sealing fields. Its unique X-shaped cross-sectional design can also reduce the risk of distortion of the seal during installation or use, and enhance the stability of the seal. However, the O-ring adopts a basic layout and provides simple leakage protection, while the X-ring seal has many advanced design qualities that enable it to provide stronger protection.

1. Daily inspection and maintenance
● Regular inspection
For dynamic sealing systems (such as hydraulic cylinders and pneumatic valves), regularly observe for any signs of leakage (such as oil stains or medium dripping). If leakage is detected, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection.
The static sealing system can be disassembled in combination with the equipment maintenance cycle to check the condition of the sealing ring: observe whether the sealing lip is worn, hardened, swollen or cracked, and whether the cross-section maintains an "X" shape structure (to avoid permanent deformation due to long-term compression).
● Cleaning and re-lubrication
When the equipment is shut down for maintenance, the residual medium and impurities in the sealing grooves and on the surface of the sealing rings should be cleaned. If the sealing rings are in good condition (without obvious aging or wear), they can be reapplied with suitable lubricants and then reinstalled for use.
Note: If the medium is a corrosive fluid, the residual medium must be thoroughly flushed to prevent it from continuously eroding the sealing ring.

2. Replacement cycle and judgment criteria
● Change timing
The sealing lip shows obvious wear, cracks or hardening (lacking elasticity when touched by hand).
The sealing ring swells (with a volume increase of more than 10%), shrinks or discolors due to the erosion of the medium.
The permanent compression deformation rate exceeds the standard (for example, the deformation rate of fluororubber products is greater than 25% at 200℃ for 70 hours).
Frequent leakage occurs in the equipment. After eliminating problems with the grooves or mating parts, the sealing rings need to be replaced.
● Storage and backup maintenance
Spare sealing rings should be stored in a cool, dry and light-proof environment, away from ozone, heat sources and corrosive gases.
Avoid stacking and heavy pressure on the sealing rings to prevent cross-sectional deformation. Sealing rings of different materials should be stored separately to avoid mutual contamination (such as direct contact between rubber and grease).
