Types of Grommets
The grommets produced by our company mainly include the following types:
01
Open Rubber Grommets
Open rubber gaskets are usually in the shape of a ring or tube, with a continuous opening (cut) on one side. Through elastic deformation, the gasket can be inserted into the component that needs protection (such as cables) or embedded in the hole.
02
Push In Rubber Grommet
The Push in rubber grommet is a rubber component with a simple design and easy installation. It can be directly pushed into the hole and tightly fixed by its own elasticity.
03
Horseshoe Grommets
Horseshoe Grommets are an open rubber component shaped like a horseshoe. Their design retains a notch on one side, facilitating quick installation without disassembling cables, pipes and other components.

Advantages of Grommets
Rubber grommets are more weather resistant.
Think about it, do you really want something that’s protecting electrical wires and expensive machinery to be attached to a damaging, non-weather resistant metal? No. Rubber grommets offer no rusting and protection for any surprise warehouse leaks.
Rubber grommets are high-heat resistant.
For anyone who works in any type of warehouse, you know machines overheating is a common issue, especially when high electricity is involved. To ensure safety and protection for both expensive machinery and warehouse employees, rubber grommets should be used as they are safer than anything metal-based in high-heat environments.
Rubber grommets increase product durability.
Due to the fact that these grommets are made strictly out of rubber rather than metal, they reduce the amount of fraying or cutting off whatever is passing through the hole. Therefore, maximum protection is guaranteed when rubber grommets are present.
Rubber grommets are more flexible.
Did you ever think that the world could be a more ergonomically sustained environment if we all used rubber grommets? Didn’t think so. It turns out that the installation of rubber grommets is actually ergonomically better since you don’t have to manually screw the pieces into place.
Rubber grommets are quicker and easier to implement.
Not only do you not have to manually screw them into place, but they are even quicker and easier to install than certain other material based grommets. Rubber grommets are placed only on one side, so it’s not necessary to reach the opposite side of the installation to attach a nut lock.

Shoelaces
Grommets are commonly used to protect shoelaces. Hiking boots, sneakers and other types of footwear often have built-in grommets below the tongue.
Tent and Canopy Anchoring
If you’ve ever gone camping, you may recall seeing grommets on your tent or canopy. Tents and canopies often feature grommets as part of their anchoring system.
Wires and Cables
One of the most common uses for grommets is to protect wires and cables from damage. Just like shoelaces can fray if they rub against sharp or hard objects, so can wires and cables.
Flags
Grommets are found on flags. Many flags, such as national and state flags, feature a row of grommets. They are designed to protect the flags from damage when hoisted on a flagpole.
Computer Equipment
Even computers may feature grommets. Hard disk drives (HDDs), for instance, often use grommets to protect their stored from vibrations. HDDs rely on magnetic platters to store and read data.
Different Materials of Grommets
Natural Rubber
Ideal for general-purpose applications due to its flexibility and durability.
EPDM
Resistant to heat, weather, and ozone, making it suitable for outdoor use.
Silicone
Withstands extreme temperatures and is often used in high-performance settings.
Nitrile (Buna-N)
Offers excellent resistance to oils and chemicals.
Precautions for Using Grommets
Don't Use the Wrong Material
Different applications require different types of rubber. Avoid using the wrong material, leading to ineffective sealing and premature wear.
Don't Overstretch the Grommet
Overstretching a rubber grommet during installation can weaken its structure and lead to damage. Take care to fit the grommet properly without causing excessive stress.
Don't Forget About Aesthetic Concerns
In some applications, the visual appearance of the installation is essential. Ensure the rubber grommet blends in with the overall design and does not detract from the aesthetic.
Don't Reuse Old or Damaged Grommets
Reusing old or damaged grommets may save money in the short term, but it can result in ineffective sealing and increased maintenance costs in the long run.
Don't Neglect Proper Maintenance
Neglecting regular maintenance and inspections can lead to unexpected failures. Maintain a schedule for checking the condition of your rubber grommets and replace them when necessary.
Don't Ignore Safety Guidelines
Always follow safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions when installing or replacing rubber grommets. This ensures your safety and the effectiveness of the sealing.
Don't Ignore Compatibility
Ensure the rubber grommet is compatible with the cable or wire you use. Mismatched compatibility can lead to poor sealing and potential damage to the grommet or the cables.
